Investors Using Their Power

Adasina doesn’t just invest capital, we also leverage it through coordinated investor campaigns. Because when investors mobilize in solidarity with one another and with impacted communities, we can spark change at the scale of the public markets.

Over $1 Trillion Assets Mobilized For Social Justice

The impact that one individual investor can make is meaningful. But the impact of many, working alongside one another with access to the right resources – has the power to dismantle and transform systems of injustice.

Paired with our products, Adasina’s investor mobilization campaigns enable investors to make an impact beyond the portfolio by advocating for the materiality of racial, gender, economic, and climate justice issues at the scale of the public markets. So far, we’ve mobilized over $1 trillion in assets from across the investment industry in support of our campaigns.

Explore the progress we made together in 2024 across our racial, gender, economic, and climate justice work, as well as the impact of our industry transformation initiatives.

OUR CAMPAIGNS

We Work Directly With Social Justice Organizations To Identify The Issues That Matter Most to Impacted Communities.

Our investor mobilization campaigns drive large-scale systemic change across racial, gender, economic, and climate justice. Each campaign is developed alongside the wisdom, expertise, and lived experience of our Social Justice Partners – grassroots organizations who represent communities historically marginalized by our financial system.

By directly partnering with impacted communities, we ensure that the campaign resources and goals we develop for investors meet real community needs and deliver meaningful impact.

Racial Justice

Our racial justice work aims to uproot systems that reinforce, perpetuate, and exacerbate racial inequities. We educate investors on the risks posed by racial injustice in the public markets and mobilize investors to discourage companies from participating in racially unjust systems.

Gender Justice

Our Gender Justice work aims to uproot systems that deprive women, LGBTQ+, and gender-expansive people of safe and fair opportunities in the workplace and in society. We educate investors on the risks posed by gender injustice in the public markets and mobilize investors to discourage companies from participating in those unjust systems.

Economic Justice

Our Economic Justice work aims to create a fair, sustainable, and equitable financial future for all people and communities. We educate investors on the risks posed by economic injustice in the public markets and mobilize investors to discourage companies from participating in economically unjust systems.

Climate Justice

Our Climate Justice work aims to create a safe, healthy, and sustainable planet for all people and communities. We educate investors on the risks posed by climate injustice in public markets and mobilize investors to discourage companies from participating in environmentally unjust systems.

Take Action On Our Current Campaigns

Campaign to End Extractive Agriculture

To curtail the harmful impacts of extractive agricultural activities and advance a more sustainable food system for people and planet.

In response to an absence of investor focus on the harmful effects of industrialized agriculture on communities and the environment Adasina and our partners at ETC Group and Friends of the Earth are taking action to address the injustices, inefficiencies, and environmental damage caused by the extractive industries overwhelmingly dominating the global food system.

Campaign to End the Subminimum Wage

To end the inhumane practice of subminimum wages nationwide, and create workplaces that foster economic equity for all.

Frozen at $2.13 per hour, a tipped subminimum wage worker can be paid as little as $4,430 per year for full-time work. While our partners at One Fair Wage build legislative momentum for the issue, we have been working to mobilize public markets investors to advocate for a nationwide end to subminimum wages – a change that would positively impact the lives of over 14 million workers, primarily women, workers of color, and low-wage workers who are disproportionately impacted by the practice.

Ending Forced Arbitration for Survivors of Sexual Harassment in the Workplace

Adasina was an early and sustained advocate for ending the harmful practice of forced arbitration for survivors of workplace sexual harassment. We were proud to have played a central role in mobilizing investors to support ending forced arbitration and were among the first to make the business case explaining why this was relevant for publicly traded companies and their investors.

Due Diligence 2.0

In an effort to provide actionable changes to an outdated and unequal due diligence process, Adasina led over a dozen BIPOC Asset Managers (in collaboration with the investment committee of a multi-billion dollar Allocator) to create the Due Diligence 2.0 Commitment. It includes nine specific shifts Allocators can make in the due diligence process to remove systemic barriers. This initiative is now being led and stewarded by our partners at Rhia Ventures.

Freedom Economy

In response to political pushback on DEI, ESG, and impact investing, Adasina helped launch the Freedom Economy — a membership organization with a vital mission to equip investors with essential legal resources and community support they need to continue boldly pursuing justice and sustainability.

  • “Our engagement with Adasina in the Extractive Agriculture Campaign opened new horizons for ETC Group. Our research on the extractive agriculture screen enabled us to work with non-conventional partners in socially responsible impact investing. We are inspired to go into this uncharted territory with colleagues at Adasina Social Capital who share our commitment and passion to work for social and environmental justice, human rights and the defense of just and ecological agri-food systems and the web of life.”
