As Co-CEO, Julianne brings a wide-ranging 30-year background in impact investing, social justice advocacy, and innovative thinking. At Adasina, she is responsible for providing strategic leadership and overseeing operational duties in collaboration with Adasina’s Founder & Co-CEO, Rachel Robasciotti. Her critical role involves overseeing Adasina Managing Directors to ensure excellent execution of Adasina’s principles, vision, and goals to effect transformative systemic change at the scale of the market.
An esteemed leader in the mission-driven impact investing industry, Zimmerman is recognized in Forbes’ 2022 “50 Over 50” list and was a distinguished lecturer on Social Entrepreneurship at Tufts University (2017-2024). Prior to joining Adasina, Julianne was the founding Managing Director at Reinventure Capital. There, she focused on investing in companies led and controlled by BIPOC and/or female founders that were at breakeven and poised for profitable growth. Previous roles include Co-Founder of a seed-stage investing practice, Vice President of Communications for a utility-scale energy storage company, Co-Founder and Director of Business Development for a biofuel company, and Vice President of Engineering for a water purification startup, among others.
Julianne’s commitment to social and climate justice extends to her community work where she has been an active participant in Racial Justice Investing, Browning the Green Space, Global InvestHer, Criterion Institute, and other organizations dedicated to systemic change. . Over her professional life to date she has made a variety of contributions to advancing racial, social, and gender equity, both within her professional sphere and the wider community, and she continues to actively cultivate connections with fellow co-conspirators for good.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Julianne graduated from MIT with two undergraduate degrees in Aero/Astro Engineering and Literature/Humanities, and from the University of Maryland with an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering. She also holds an executive certificate in sustainability management from the Presidio Graduate School, and completed the AAPF 2021 CRT Summer School program. Julianne’s extraordinary experiences include serving as an EMT in Maryland and Massachusetts and being a finalist twice in the NASA astronaut selection process.
She resides in Boston with her musician husband. Walking their two charismatic Akita dogs every morning, in every weather, provides Julianne a daily energy recharge to do the work of transformative, reparative systemic change.
